In 2010 Jamie Oliver received the TEDPrize for his wish to create a food revolution. Now, two years later we are excited to share the next chapter. You’ve seen the show and heard about his aggressive public campaign to change the way kids experience food. His wish has grown into a global community of people coming together to eat better, learn about nutrition and fight obesity. It’s now going grassroots.
Jamie is taking this initiative to the next level. On May 19th, the world celebrates Food Revolution Day. Over 400 public events take place around the world.
Here’s a short video from Jamie explaining why and what Food Revolution Day is:
Food Revolution Day is a chance for people who love food to come together to share information, talents and resources; to pass on their knowledge and highlight the world’s food issues. All around the globe, people will work together to make a difference. Food Revolution Day is about connecting with your community through events at schools, restaurants, local businesses, dinner parties and farmers’ markets. We want to inspire change in people’s food habits and to promote the mission for better food and education for everyone.
Find a Food Revolution Day near you or host your own! Sterling Health’s Amy Robinson will be at TEDxBayArea’s Food Rev Day celebration. If you’re in San Fran we invite you to come by and join the conversation. And did we mention there will be food? Lots and lots of food.
